Ashley Young will be departing the club after his contract expires, according to a statement from Villa on their official website.

The 37-year-old left Villa Park after making 32 appearances in all competitions and scoring just once, a breathtaking goal that gave Villa a draw at Nottingham Forest.

Young returned to the team in 2021 on a one-year contract that was extended last summer through the end of the 2022–23 season.

“A versatile, seasoned, and well-liked player who made 250 appearances in claret and blue during two stints with the club, he was a fan favorite.

Everyone at Aston Villa would want to express their gratitude to Ashley for his contribution to the team and best wishes for his future endeavors.

During Martin O’Neill’s administration, the 37-year-old moved from Watford to Aston Villa after beginning his football career there.

Young left Villa Park after four seasons and joined Sir Alex Ferguson’s Manchester United, where he won numerous awards, including the Premier League championship.

In 2019, he moved to Inter Milan, where he joined up with Antonio Conte to grab the Serie A championship away from Juventus.

Before making the move official, he went back to Villa on an initial loan agreement that summer.
