Benjamin Mendy joins new club after release by Manchester City.

A week after being found not guilty of the remaining allegations against him, Benjamin Mendy has resumed his football career.

Mendy was unanimously acquitted and walked out of court on Friday as a free man after being found not guilty of one case of rape and one of attempted rape, as well as six charges of rape and one of sexual assault in January.

Mendy was under contract with Manchester City at the time of the accusations, and he was released at the end of the 2022/23 season when his contract expired.

He has now signed a two-year contract with Lorient, who play in France’s first division, as the 29-year-old attempts to revive his career.
