The Lagos High Court in Lagos state has set Wednesday as the start date for the trial of Eze Ndigbo and Frederick Nwajagu for suspected terrorism.

Nwajagu, 67, was detained by the Department of State Services in April for allegedly threatening to summon members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) to Lagos to protect Igbo property.

The prosecution counsel indicated his attendance at the restart of proceedings today, but there was no legal representative for the defendant. Justice Adesanya postponed the start of the trial until July 4.

Nwajagu was remanded in custody on April 5 for reportedly threatening to introduce the outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) to the state.

Chief Magistrate Peter Nwaka ordered the defendant to be held for 30 days in the Ikoyi Custodial Facility, pending advice from the Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP). Nwajagu was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy and disturbance of public peace.
