Manchester United is pressing to sign Napoli defender Kim Min-jae ahead of the summer transfer window, according to Tuttomercatoweb.

The Red Devils are currently evaluating their central defensive options and there are suggestions that Harry Maguire could head for the exit door.

It is now reported that Min-jae is the top target for the club and they are planning to open negotiations within the next 30 days for the 26-year-old.

The South Korean currently has a release clause worth €50-60 million valid for foreign clubs. This will reportedly be active between June 1 and 15.

Min-jae would be a fantastic acquisition for United

Min-jae joined the Naples outfit from Fenerbahce for just €18m last summer and he has been a revelation for them with a number of stand-out performances.

The centre-back has kept more than 30 clean sheets in all competitions while he has also excelled with his distribution, tackling as well as ability to win duels.

As per Sofascore, he has completed 91% of his passes while winning 1.6 tackles and 4.7 duels per game. He has also registered more than three clearances per outing.

Min-jae has the physical attributes to succeed in the Premier League and there are no surprises that United is pushing to sign him ahead of European rivals.

The club may still need to qualify for next season’s Champions League to boost their chances of signing him ahead of the likes of Manchester City this summer.

Tuttomercatoweb report that his clause will be active between June 1-15 while several outlets have claimed that the option can be triggered only in July (1-15).

We should get more clarity over the clause in the coming weeks.
