Ja Morant expresses honest views on Dillon Brooks’ exit from Grizzlies.

It’s easy to assume that Dillon Brooks‘ departure from the Memphis Grizzlies is bittersweet for Ja Morant. On the one hand, he’s glad his old teammate is getting rewarded. On the other hand, he’s disappointed that one of their finest contributors in recent years is departing to join the Houston Rockets.

Brooks agreed to terms with the Rockets on a four-year contract for up to $90 million. Houston acquired him in a five-team sign-and-trade, with Memphis receiving Josh Christopher in exchange.

Morant retweeted the Grizzlies’ goodbye and thanks message for Brooks and tagged it with three emojis: a pleading face, a blue heart, and an infinity sign. Morant is visibly upset over Brooks’ departure, but he assures his teammate that they will stay friends and that the love will always be there.

Still, losing Brooks, who averaged 14.3 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 2.6 assists per game, hurts the Grizzlies a little. While the attention he brought to the club was often damaging, there’s no disputing that he provided Memphis with much-needed flair.

That will be sorely missed by Ja Morant and the Memphis Grizzlies.
