Highway landslide in China’s Hubei province killed one person and left seven others missing.
A landslip on a motorway in central China killed one person and left seven others missing, according to local government officials on Sunday.
Officials in Hubei province stated in a post on the province’s WeChat account that six people were recovered alive and injuries were recorded from Saturday’s landslip, adding that they were working to avert additional tragedies in the region while efforts proceeded.
According to a WeChat post, China’s ministry of disaster management triggered a level-four emergency response and dispatched a working group to the location to guide emergency response.

Torrential rains in regions of China have caused a series of catastrophic landslides in recent weeks.
Last month, 19 people were killed in a mine collapse in Sichuan province, and four perished when landslides were triggered by excessive rains in a short period.
The Chinese government has issued warnings about rain and other natural calamities, urging local governments to be vigilant and respond fast.
