The National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, has received another batch of 108 Nigerians who have become stuck in Tripoli, Libya.

The returnees landed onboard Al Buraq Air Boeing 737-800, registration number 5A-DMG, at the Cargo Wing of Murtala Muhammad International Airport, Ikeja, thanks to a special intervention by the International Organisation for Migration, IOM.

There were 46 female adults, two female children, and a female newborn among the returns.

In welcoming the voluntary assisted returnees back into the country, the agency’s Director-General, Mustapha Ahmed, who was represented by the Lagos Territorial Office Coordinator, Ibrahim Farinloye, emphasised the new administration’s determination to address the country’s challenges and implement measures that would turn the national economy around for positive development.

Alhaji Habib-Ahmed also stated that the President was sending his promise that his administration would not leave the youths behind as a factor in the nation’s governance to incorporate their energy and technological skills, which are the primary impetus in assisting any progressive society in the world.

“The President will evolve a policy that youths and women will actively participate in the implementation of all policies.

“The youths will be the driving force of all decisions in the current administration because of the importance that the leadership of this nation has placed on tapping the potential abound in the largest segment of the population.”

He asked the returnees to embrace their chance to be ambassadors of good news to other youths who are still preparing to travel abroad.

“The green pastures are here, let us tend the pastures to maturity so that benefits can be everlasting,” he said.

The National Commission for Refugees, Migration, and Internally Displaced Persons, the Federal Ministry of Health, Port Health, the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, and the Nigeria Police were also on the ground to welcome the returns.
