G36 Renewed Hope Support Group, a coalition of support organisations from Nigeria’s 36 states, has asked President Bola Tinubu to recompense them with board posts. To emphasise their dissatisfaction, the supporters claimed that their members stole and borrowed money to help Mr. Tinubu’s campaign.

“Your Excellency, as a grassroots politician, you are aware of everything we must have gone through during the election.” Many of our support organisations borrowed, begged, stole, and sold our assets to assure your success in the polls,” the groups said at a news conference in Lagos on Wednesday. “On this note, we are speaking with one voice, appealing to you that we deserve to be compensated.”

The group’s chairman, Samson Bilesanmi, stated, “We know we can’t all be your ministers, special assistants, or chief of staff, but you can appoint us to over 200 federal boards and agencies.”

It went on to express its disappointment with the previous combined support groups and urged Mr. Tinubu to dissolve them.

“Your Excellency should dissolve the amalgamated and replace it with another name,” Mr Bilesanmi said. “This is because anything given under that umbrella would be cornered by a few individuals who could not account for millions of dollars given to us during the campaign.”
