Newcastle makes a £43 million bid for midfield maestro

Newcastle United has submitted a €50 million (£43 million) approach for AC Milan midfielder Sandro Tonali, according to The Athletic late Tuesday night.

With Newcastle looking to sign two elite midfielders this summer, Eddie Howe is thought to have targeted the 23-year-old as an excellent option to play as a No 8 or No 6, with the latter allowing Bruno Guimaraes to play in a little more advanced role.

However, it appears like we will have Premier League competition, as The Athletic’s Serie A journalist James Horncastle reports that Chelsea is also in the race.
