The in-laws and nephew of NASCAR legend Jimmie Johnson were killed in what authorities are treating as a murder-suicide. Muskogee, Oklahoma, police verified the incident on Tuesday.

The bodies of Jack Janway, 69, Terry Janway, 68, and their 11-year-old grandson Dalton Janway were discovered Monday at a residence in Muskogee, roughly 50 miles (80 kilometres) southeast of Tulsa, according to Muskogee police spokesperson Lynn Hamlin. According to Hamlin, police were called to the house after a lady called 911 to report a disturbance with a pistol before hanging up.

When police arrived, they discovered one person near the front entrance of the house and then heard a gunshot from further inside, where cops eventually discovered two additional persons dead, according to Hamlin. Investigators suspect Terry Janway shot and killed her husband and grandchild before killing herself, according to her. The three are the parents and nephew of Johnson’s wife, Chandra Janway, according to Hamlin.

Legacy Motor Club, Johnson’s race team, announced on Twitter that he will be pulling his No. 84 Carvana Chevrolet from this weekend’s NASCAR Cup Series race in Chicago. “The Johnson family has requested privacy at this time, and no further statements will be made,” the team wrote.

“We are saddened by the tragic deaths of members of Chandra Johnson’s family,” NASCAR said in a statement. “The entire NASCAR family extends its deepest support and condolences during this difficult time to Chandra, Jimmie, and the entire Johnson & Janway families.”
