Despite treble celebrations, Jack Grealish believes the ‘party boy’ image is misplaced.

Jack Grealish has made no apologies for his high-profile season-ending celebrations, claiming that any “party boy” reputation is wrong.

The England international was instrumental in Manchester City’s historic triple, which culminated in a Champions League final victory over Inter Milan.

Grealish was the centre of attention for City’s post-match celebrations as he drank and celebrated with his teammates.

Despite the attention paid to his approach, he reported for England duty and came off the bench in Monday’s 7-0 triumph over North Macedonia.

“I don’t think it’s a party boy thing,” he remarked of the reaction to his revelry.

“I would never lie to you and say, ‘Yeah, I don’t drink and I don’t party,’ because I do, but there are so many people who will come here and say, ‘I don’t do this, I don’t do that,’ when they do.”

“I’m just being honest because if you saw me doing anything, you’d be like, ‘Oh, hold on.'” He stated in an interview a few weeks ago that he did not do it.

“But listen, I’m just having fun; I’m living my dream of playing for the best club in the world, in my opinion, and we’ve just won the treble, so I’m going to take a break now with my family and friends, and then I’ll be ready to go again in four weeks.”

“I knew what I was doing; that’s just how I am; I’m like that when I party.” Actually, I’m not normally like this, but we just won the treble, and it’s something that (may) never happen again.

“So I went and had a good time, and I wasn’t the only one – I think a lot of the time you’ll see everyone recording me, and I could show you all this stuff of other people who were the same.”

“Listen, we all had fun, other people had fun where the cameras weren’t, but that was just me having fun, I’d had the most successful season of my life.”

“It is now June 19, and I started training last July 13.” Years ago, you’d have a nine-month season; I’ve now sketched out a 12-month season. I’ve been to a World Cup, I’ve won three trophies, and I’m going back to training in four weeks or so, so why not have fun?”

Grealish stated that he was not approached by England manager Gareth Southgate when meeting with the group and that he thought he contributed as usual.

England won both games to go to the Euro 2024 qualifying round, and Grealish reported for duty as scheduled.

“I’m not sure what you folks read and think at times. To be honest, I have a wonderful connection with him (Southgate). “A fantastic relationship,” he continued.

“I had a feeling in the back of my mind that I wouldn’t play on Friday (against Malta).” Nonetheless, I arrived at camp on Tuesday night, a little hungover but not drunk.

“I arrived at camp with the other guys, slept, then woke up to train on Wednesday.” We practised on Thursday, and I knew in the back of my mind that I wasn’t going to play on Friday.

“Then, on Saturday, I trained, and I trained hard.” Then there’s Sunday. I assumed there would be a coin flip as to who would play.

“I came on (against Macedonia) and I’m just happy,” he said. I’ve had a fantastic season, the most successful season of my life, and I believe the time has come for me to sit back and enjoy.

“My emotions have been quite elevated. It was the highest high I’d ever had in my entire life when I was sitting in the camp on Thursday.

“When you arrive at the camp, you sit alone in your room and wonder, ‘Will I ever feel that high again?'”
