Akpabio’s Senate Presidency: Jubilation in Niger Delta, and South East

Residents of the Niger Delta area have voiced their wish for former Akwa Ibom state governor Godswill Akpabi to win the Senate president position ahead of the commencement of the 10th National Assembly.

People in the South East and North have also voiced hope about an Akpabio Senate presidency.

Akpabio, also known as the uncommon transformer and akpabioism, is said to have received the support of a majority of senators from both parties.

These lawmakers see him as the man the cap fits.

The president of Nigeria, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, is behind him, and the APC leadership has also expressed support for the former governor.

Niger Delta leaders and youth groups, see Akpabio as a man who will work with the president to change the fortunes of the region.

Furthermore, the people of the South East have faith in the man they have come to know as one of them, an in-law to the Igbos who has previously treated them well.

Speaking on Akpabio’s Senate presidency, Alhaji Usman Aliyu, a northern leader and the coordinator of the north-south progressive group, stated that Akpabio is a bridge builder and a friend of the north.

According to him, while governor, Akpabio sponsored a large number of Muslim pilgrims to Saudi Arabia for hajj.

 

The Niger Delta people are with Akpabio.

Meanwhile, Mr Akpan Bassey and Dr Patrick Fred in a joint statement issued in Uyo, declared that Akpabio remains the best for the job.

They assured President Bola Ahmed Tinubu that the entire region are with him.

On his part, elder Uche Idechukwuka said the Igbos are fully in support of Senator Akpabio as Senate president.
