The Supreme Court of Nigeria has stated that the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Olukayode Ariwoola, did not speak on the phone with anybody, including President Bola Tinubu, about the pending presidential election case for the 2023 election.

According to the Supreme Court, Justice Ariwoola did not speak with Tinubu or the Director General of the Department of State Service (DSS) in order to put pressure on the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal over the judgement.

The explanation was given by Dr. Akande Festus, Director of Press and Information of the Supreme Court of Nigeria, in a statement published on Wednesday in Abuja.

There is no truth in the narrative that Justice Olukayode Ariwoola had a telephone conversation with His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and the Director General of the Department of State Service (DSS) in order to pressurise the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal on the likely judgement to give.
