LASG looks into solar energy to combat emissions

The Lagos State Government has reaffirmed its dedication to tackling the emissions problem.

As part of its efforts to deploy renewable energy throughout the state, the state government held a high-level validation workshop on the gaps and needs assessment for energy projects at the time.

According to a press release from the Ministry of Environment and Water Resources and signed by Adekunle Adeshina, Director of Public Affairs, this is the case.

Speaking at a workshop recently conducted at the Protea Hotel in Alausa, Ikeja, Tajudeen Gaji, the permanent secretary of the Office of Environmental Services, said that the energy sector has the highest ranking in the state emission profile based on the most current emission inventory.

According to Gaji, a number of strategies, including the inception report, stakeholder mapping, and bilateral dialogues to develop the business and financial models to deliver the project, were utilized under the consultancy of the Lagos Urban Development Initiative.

Mrs. Olamide Udoma-Ejorh, a consultant with the Lagos Urban Development Initiative, outlined the four laws, acts, and policies of Lagos State that have been deemed crucial to the project.

The Lagos State Integrated Resource Plan, the Lagos State Climate Action Plan (2020–2025), and the Lagos State Government Electricity Policy (2021) were the laws she highlighted.
