Pep Guardiola signs a two-year Man City contract extension
Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has signed a two-year contract extension as he aims to bring the champions
league trophy to the Etihad

ran until the end of the season and he had strongly been linked with a return to Barcelona.
Now, an extended stay at City could bring a possible move to bring Lionel Messi to the Etihad back into focus.
This is currently Guardiola’s longest spell at a club, having spent four years at Barcelona before having a
sabbatical and then taking charge of Bayern Munich for three years. An extension could take that stay to six
years.
The City boss said: “Ever since I arrived at Manchester City I have been made to feel so welcome in
the club and in the city itself- from the players, the staff, the supporters, the people of Manchester
and the chairman and owner.
“Since then we have achieved a great deal together, scored goals, won games and trophies,
and we are all very proud of that success.
“Having that kind of support is the best thing any manager can have.
“I have everything I could want to do my job well and I am humbled by the confidence shown
in me to continue for two more years after this season.
“The challenge for us is to continue improving and evolving, and I am very excited and about helping
Manchester City do that.” Guardiola, 49, was brought to Manchester City to try and win the club’s
first-ever Champions League and he’s committed to finishing what he started.
He’s guided the Etihad side to back-to-back Premier League titles with 100 and 98 points in those seasons.
But Man City have never won the Champions League in their history and have been knocked out in
the quarter-finals the last three seasons. Now Guardiola is focused on winning the Champions League
