England fans all say the same thing about Jack Grealish after Italy win Euro 2020

England suffered penalty shoot-out heartbreak as Italy lifted the Euro 2020 trophy at Wembley.

The game ended 1-1 after extra-time with Luke Shaw’s early strike cancelled out by Leonardo Bonucci in the second half.

A dramatic set of penalties followed but Italy secured a 3-2 win after Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho and Bukayo Saka missed for England.

Gareth Southgate introduced all three of those players from the bench, with Rashford and Sancho brought on specifically to take penalties in the dying moments of extra-time.

Another player used from the bench was Jack Grealish. The Aston Villa captain only started one of England’s seven games but made an impact off the bench in the final.

And supporters watching the game at home believe Southgate should have used Grealish sooner.

Kieran Jennings: “First time tonight I thought Southgate got his changes wrong. Saka didn’t feel like the right change or work nor did Henderson.

“Grealish and Sancho sooner may have been more effective. Easy in hindsight though and sometimes things don’t work the way you want.”

@Baccalieri: “Not going to scapegoat anyone, but we should’ve taken advantage in the first half. We were all over them. Thought Mount had a poor game, should’ve come off a lot sooner for Grealish. As soon as he came on we were all over Italy.”

@satellite_aimee: “Maybe if they brought Grealish on sooner we would have won.”

Jamie Bennett: “Gutting. Some horrendous decisions in there though. Shouldn’t have been Rice to come off. Grealish should’ve been on about an hour sooner than he was for Mount. Southgate needs to suck up whatever issue he has with Grealish because he’s obviously our best attacking mid.”

@Tony1965UK: “Sorry but Southgate got his tactics wrong second half. Played too deep, allowed Italy wave after wave of attacks. Keeping Mount and Sterling on and not putting Grealish on sooner. And then letting a 19-year-old take a penalty.”
