Again, Jonathan visits Buhari in Aso Villa, reasons unknown

26

The President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), met with former President Goodluck Jonathan at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, on Thursday.

Jonathan, who arrived at the Villa at about 3 pm, went into a closed-door meeting with the President immediately.

The Presidency did not disclose the agenda of the meeting.

It was however learnt that it could be connected to Jonathan’s work as Special Envoy of the Economic Community of West African States to Maki where he is leading mediation talks as the country remains under military rule following the August 2020 coup that ousted former President Ibrahim Keita.

On Monday, Mali’s military-dominated government launched a four-day national forum on returning the country to civilian rule.
